Caragana arborescens
grows as a shrub or small tree. Flowers are yellow. Sharp spines grow at the base
of the leaves. The pinnately compound leaves have an even number of leaflets,
lacking the terminal leaflet found on most Fabaceae species. The plant has been
introduced as a drought tolerant species for windbreaks and landscaping. It escaped
cultivation and has the potential to become invasive.
