Cirsium canescens is a white-flowered thistle that grows from the eastern plains into low mountain elevations. Plants from the mountains (3rd and 4th photos) may be a different race than those on the plains. On the plains, plants often appear stout with broad flower heads. Mountain plants are often taller and gangly.
