Cympoterus acaulis is a low-growing plant, blooming in early spring. C. acaulis can be distinguished from Lomatium orientale by its more narrow, shinier leaves. C. acaulis also lacks the red anthers found on L. orientale. C. acaulis is often found on sandy soils.
