Penstemon barbatus (Beardlip Penstemon)

Penstemon barbatus is the only red Penstemon found in eastern Colorado, though other red species grow west of the Continental Divide. Leaves are linear and opposite. Plants are 1 to 3 feet tall and grow on rocky or sandy hillsides in southern counties.
